My first answer to my essential question is  by using technology to view the internal structure of the eye.

My second answer to my essential question is by using technology to help those who have refractive errors.

  • Refractive errors are nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, which are the most common eye complications.
  • Glasses and prescriptions are needed for those with refractive errors, and most people who visit the optometrist go for glasses.
  • In order to get glasses, optometrist must first get your prescription using technology tools .

In conclusion my second answer to my essential question, “How can optometrist best use technology to improve eye care?”, is by using technology to help those with refractive errors, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Many go to the optometrist in order to get glasses so this is relevant answer to my question.

Blog 16: Independent Component 2 Approval


1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
I plan to make a stop motion video. I would spend 1 hour making a script, 1/2 an hour looking up fun facts about the eye, 2 hours to make paper props, and the rest of the time to make the video.
2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
I will have the video and script as my evidence.

This topic will help me to learn more facts about the eye and to present them in a different way.

Independent Component 1

My mentor, Dr. Wong, helped me complete my independent component.
I did an extra 30 hours of mentorship for my independent component separate from my Senior Project hours.

Lesson 2 Reflection

1.What are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why?
In my Lesson 2 Presentation, the thing I was most proud of was that I did not stutter or say “Umm” as much as I did in Lesson 1. I think I am proud of this presentation because I improved compared to my Lesson 1 Presentation.

I would give myself a P on the Lesson 2 Presentation.

I feel I met all requirements needed for a P in the Lesson 2 component contract.

I think my pictures worked for me because I had examples and visuals to refer to.

4. What didn't work? If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2?
I think I would better arrange my activity, with clearer instructions.

I think my answer #2 will be about how technology helps us to cure the eye.

Third Interview Preparation

How can an optometrist best use technology to improve eye care?



1.  Who do you plan to interview?  What is this person's area of expertise?
I plan to interview my mentor, Dr. Wong. His area of expertise is optometry.

My mentor has state he is free on either Tuesday or Thursday for my interview; however I have not clarified a date and time yet.

What type of technology is out there for optometry practices?
